WELCOME TO Morgan Hill Dentistry !
Dental Veneers are extremely versatile and can be used to address a number of different cosmetic concerns and oral imperfections like
.Gaps
.chipped or broken teeth,
.discoloured teeth
.Crooked teeth
.smaller-than-average teeth.
Some people may need only one veneer in the case of a broken or chipped tooth and some may need to get between six to eight veneers to create an even, proportional smile. The top front eight teeth are the ones to which the veneers are most commonly applied.
Two separate dental appointments are usually required to install the Dental veneers. At the first appointment, a thorough oral exam is conducted, your medical history is reviewed and you are asked a series of questions about your aesthetic goals for treatment by our dental experts.
After this, an X-ray of your teeth is taken and if you are an ideal candidate, your teeth are prepped for the veneers. To prepare your teeth, the dentist administers a local anesthetic to numb your gums and teeth. A layer of enamel, equal to the thickness of your veneers is carefully removed from your teeth.
It takes 2-4 weeks after your dentist creates your mold, to manufacture your veneers. Once they’re ready, you can schedule an appointment to have them placed.
At this appointment, your dentist evaluates the fit, shape, and coloration of the veneers to make sure they’re perfect for you. The dentist then thoroughly cleans your teeth to keep the bacteria from being trapped under the veneer and causing decay.
After this, a grinding tool is used to create a rougher texture on each tooth on which a veneer is to be applied. This makes it easier for the veneer to stick to the tooth. The dentist places dental cement between your veneers and teeth using a special ultraviolet light beam to harden the cement.
This second appointment where veneers are placed generally doesn’t last longer than 2 hours. But it might vary depending on the number of veneers being done and if a local anesthetic is used.
Though incredibly sturdy, dental veneers cannot last forever. It is extremely crucial to brush and floss regularly just like you would your natural teeth, and visit Morgan Hill Dentistry every few months for an oral exam and a thorough professional cleaning.
Avoiding dark beverages like wine, coffee, or soda can prevent the staining of your veneers. With proper care and maintenance, the veneers can normally last between 7 to 15 years.
